Kapiti Food Fair Regional Marketing Plan

The Kapiti Food Fair is excited to announce that it’s proposal to the Kapiti Coast District Council Major Events Fund was successful.  Owners of the Kapiti Food Fair, Helene Judge and Jeanine van Kradenburg are delighted with this result.  “It is an endorsement of our view that we are a sustainable and growing event that is attractive to visitors and important for economic development in Kapiti, says Helene. 

The Fair also wants to congratulate the Maoriland Film Festival, The Kite Festival and Coastella Music Festival who were also successful in their Mayor Event Fund bids.

Helene goes on to say, “that to attract more visitors we need to invest wisely and significantly to drive our next wave of growth.  Approved funding is being channeled in to a comprehensive regional marketing campaign including cinema advertising in Levin, Paraparaumu, Lower Hutt and Wellington; bus back advertising in Paraparaumu and Wellington, printed media in the Regional Events Guide, Kapiti News, Dominion Post, Horowhenua Chronicle, Manawatu Standard, Wairarapa News; digital advertising on Stuff, Neighbourly and Facebook along with extensive radio campaigns on Beach FM, Mediaworks and NZME stations.” 

“Our posters and flyers are being currently being distributed all around Kapiti and they continue to leverage the Fair hitting the Top 20 NZ food festival list which is a huge motivation for us” says Jeanine. 

There are 14 billboards being installed progressively during November so keep a look out and tell everyone you know to come along for a great day out. 

We are also hopeful that visitors will embrace our new licenced bar that will be operated by Tuatara Brewing who will serve their own beer, North End Brewing beer, Pheasant Creek wines and KOAST Limoncello cocktails – each of these businesses have been involved with the Fair from early stages and will also have separate vendor sites at the Fair. 

Celebrity Chef, Jason van Dorsten, Auckland restaurant heavyweight, Executive Chef and owner of Cafe Hanoi is looking forward to being at the Kapiti for the Fair.  “We have seen his menu suggestions and they are sounding delicious and reminiscent of Northern Vietnamese street food that Jason is well known for” says Jeanine.  We will also be including Tendertips Asparagus and KOAST Limoncello in the demonstrations as they are sponsoring the Celebrity Kitchen along with BCE Catering Equipment, Air New Zealand, Atahuri, Kapiti Business Projects and PartyPerfect Catering. 

On Friday 2 December Jason will be running a Masterclass for 20 lucky ticket holders.  The theme for the evening will be ‘Vietnamese home style cooking’ with an abundance of stories, tips and information about Vietnam.  There are three tickets still for sale and each ticket includes two people so it’s a great gift idea or an opportunity for friends or family members to get together and have a fun evening.  To secure your ticket phone Jeanine 04 905 5520 or go to the Fair’s website

The Fair is on Saturday 3 December, 10am to 3pm at Mazengarb Reserve.  Entry is free for those up to 18 and $5 per adult.  It is a fun and tasty day out where you can eat yourself silly with friends and family.
